On June 17, 2024, a delegation from Montanuniversität Leoben, led by Rektor Peter Moser and including Prof. Verena Maier-Kiener, Prof. Lorenz Romaner, and Prof. Thomas Thurner, was invited by Dr. Sabine Herlitschka, the CEO and Chairwoman of Infineon Technologies Austria AG, to visit the Infineon site in Villach. The primary objective of the visit was to explore potential collaborations in the fields of industrial research and education.
During the visit, Rektor Peter Moser introduced Montanuniversität Leoben, and the attending professors highlighted current research activities that could serve as a basis for collaboration in the field of microelectronics. The delegation from KAI presented the key aspects of the longstanding partnership with Montanuniversiät Leoben, emphasizing the importance and potential for future collaboration. Subsequent discussions revolved around a framework agreement that would oversee the execution of future research projects and the supervision of master’s theses and dissertations.
The visit concluded with a tour of the showroom, showcasing the new, highly automated semiconductor factory. This provided the guests from Montanuniversität Leoben with a comprehensive understanding of the advanced, automated production of semiconductor components in one of Europe’s most cutting-edge semiconductor facilities.
